Archiving and Digital Preservation Policy

The International Journal of Infrastructure Research and Management (IJIRM) is committed to the long-term preservation, accessibility, and integrity of its scholarly content. To ensure continuous and permanent access, the journal implements a robust, multi-layered digital preservation strategy through internationally recognized archiving services and internal safeguards.

1. Third-Party Archiving Systems

PORTICO

IJIRM participates in Portico, a trusted third-party digital preservation service supported by libraries and publishers worldwide. All published content is securely archived in Portico's dark archive, which maintains geographically distributed, regularly validated copies. In the event of a trigger event—such as journal discontinuation or prolonged platform unavailability—the preserved content is made permanently accessible to the scholarly community in accordance with Portico's activation protocols, ensuring the completeness, authenticity, and long-term accessibility of the journal's scholarly record without reliance on a single server.

PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN)

As an Open Journal Systems (OJS) journal, IJIRM is enrolled in the PKP Preservation Network. PKP PN automatically deposits and synchronizes published content across international preservation nodes, providing ongoing protection and access continuity.

2. Internal Backup and Redundancy

In addition to external archiving solutions, the journal’s publishing platform is backed up regularly on secure servers with redundancy protocols, routine monitoring, and update procedures to prevent data loss.

3. Persistent Identifiers and Metadata Deposits

All published articles are assigned stable Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs) and complete metadata are deposited with Crossref and other indexing services to support long-term discoverability and linking.

4. Author Self-Archiving

Authors are permitted to self-archive the final published version of their articles in institutional repositories, subject repositories, and personal websites, provided that the full bibliographic citation and DOI link to the original publication in IJIRM are included.

5. Permanent Access Commitment

IJIRM remains committed to permanent open access. In the event of journal discontinuation, content preserved through the above archiving mechanisms will remain accessible in accordance with their preservation triggers and policies. The journal ensures:

  • DOIs remain resolvable

  • Metadata remains discoverable

  • Full-text content remains retrievable

  • The scholarly record’s integrity is maintained
